As an ELT practitioner, Saima Akter started her career in university teaching in 2017. She did her Masters in ELT from the Institute of Mother Languages (IML) of Dhaka University and completed her Bachelors in English with a double major in English Literature and Language with distinction (Summa cum Laude) from the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB). Her academic achievements include a Gold Medal, Vice Chancellor awards, and Dean’s Awards. She is also an Anglia CITE certified teacher who received distinction in the Anglia CITE test (Level: Adult Learners).
Apart from teaching, she is involved in academic research. She has her book chapter published in the Routledge International Handbook of English Language Education in Bangladesh. She also has research articles published from other peer-reviewed journals. She actively participates in national and international conferences as participant and presenter. Her areas of interest include phonetics and comparative phonology, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, ELT curriculum and materials, and social identity and power etc.
