Entry Requirements

Following entry requirements will be considered for the students seeking admission to pursue the B.A. in English program in the Department of English at United International University.

Without any exception, every applicant who intends to pursue B.A. in English at United International University (henceforth UIU) must fulfil the admission requirements as laid down by UIU. A higher secondary certificate or its equivalent in science, arts, commerce, or other fields of study is the basic educational requirement. The related requirements for getting admitted into this programme are in the following:

  1. Candidates having a minimum GPA of 2.5/2nd division/equivalent grade in SSC and HSC or equivalent public examinations are eligible to apply for getting admitted into this programme. Students with GPA 2.00 in any examination either SSC or HSC; however, they must have a minimum GPA of 6.00 totalling the GPA of both the examinations.
  2. O-level students must have completed a minimum of 5 subjects with Average Grade Point of 2.50 or above and A-level students a minimum of 2 subjects with Average Grade Point of 2.00 or above (scale A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1)
  3. The students, who are sons/daughters of freedom fighters, will be eligible for getting admission if they have a minimum GPA of 5.00 totalling the GPA of S.S.C. and H.S.C. examinations. Such students, however, have to submit the copy of authenticated certificate as the proof of his/her father/mother’s identity as a freedom fighter.
  4. However, applicants will be evaluated on the basis of both previous academic achievement and UIU admission test score. Candidates must have acceptable score in UIU admission test. Moreover, a student whose IELTS band score (academic) is 6.0 or equivalent Score in Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) not less than 550 in the TOEFL Paper Based Test or
    80 in the TOEFL Internet Based Test or its equivalent band score might be exempted from taking UIU admission test (written and oral). Categorically, all the students must appear before a personal interview as a part of the admission requirements. 

Admission test is not required for GPA 5.00 holders in H.S.C./equivalent level of exams and credit transferred students for getting admission to an undergraduate program.

Course Waiver/Transfer Policy

A student must have obtained at least a grade of ‘B’ or equivalent in a similar course from any prestigious university/institution for course waiver/transfer. A student may be allowed maximum course waiver up to 60 credit hours (20 courses) based on the recommendation of the course equivalence committee.
